How much do you love your dog? For those of us that are or have ever been dog owners, we like to think of our dogs as another member of the family. Man, I would even go as far as to say that the dog I had growing up was an extension of myself. She acted like me, understood just how to cheer me up - my dog really was my best friend.

Another very special thing about my dog was that she was a mutt. A mixed breed dog is the most common breed in the world, so there’s a good chance that one of your neighbors, if not you, has a mutt as well. If you want to tell the world how much you love your mutt, then tomorrow is your day!
December 2nd is National Mutt Day, and the nation will be celebrating their love for the mixed breed. Here are just a few things you can do to get in on the celebration:
How much do you love your pets? Enough to do anything for them? Well, this month, the holiday only asks that you take them for a walk when you get a chance!

January is Walk Your Pet Month, and this is the time to get outdoors and walk around Dallas with your pet. For most of you, this means taking your dog to a nearby park. I say as long as you’ve got a leash, you can walk any pet you like.
For a smaller animal that doesn’t need a great deal of exercise, taking a walk around Toscana might be just enough walking for the two of you. Wander around, say hello to your neighbors, and enjoy a little time outdoors.
If you are the owner of a dog (or other animal) that really likes to run around outside, Carrollton Park is just minutes from the apartment community. Get the leash ready and get outside to celebrate!
How will you be honoring this pet month?

Your family is the most important thing in your life, and when you add to that dynamic, it just makes life that much more fulfilling. The team at Toscana considers each resident a member of the community family, and they want your living experience to be the best it can possibly be. One way that each resident can do that is by adding another member to the apartment - a member of the canine variety, that is.
Toscana is a pet-friendly apartment community, meaning there is always room for you to bring home a dog to be a part of your family. If you want to explore dog adoption, Operation Kindness is just the place you should look. This North Texas animal shelter always hosts animals that are looking for a place to call home. Take a look and see if you find the right dog to bring back to your apartment.
Are you considering pet adoption?

Dogs like to wander around and sometimes they wander off and next thing you know you can’t find each other. It can make you worry when it has been several minutes and you still can’t find them.
You may begin to think that someone stole them or they wandered off extremely far from home and will be scared. Worst-case scenarios tend to run through your mind about where your dog is and what happened to them. To avoid thinking about those scenarios, worrying, stressing, and crying you should consider injecting a microchip in your dog.
Your dog may have a name tag with your phone number and its medical information, but that can easily be taken off. If you insert a microchip into your dog, they can easily be found. It will not hurt them and is the size of a rise of grain. It is injected at a specific spot on the skin and veterinarians and animal care takes know exactly where to find it.
There is no surgery necessary and the chip holds all of the dog’s information as well as yours. You can put your name and phone number on the microchip. And if your dog is found by a vet or a shelter that can easily scan for its information and call you letting you know where to find your dog. It is easy, simple, and less stressful. You can get your pet a microchip at Dallas Animal Services for $15.
Don’t risk loosing your dog again with the microchip.
